I was extremely fortunate that my first high-volume large-eye camp was with a hybrid team of Western surgeons and skilled surgeons from the Aravind Eye Hospital system in southern India.

Aravind is readily acknowledged as the premier eye hospital in the world. My Corneal Fellowship alma mater, UCSF, regularly conducts joint research with Aravind surgeons.

I photographed these plaques at the Aravind headquarters in Madurai, India.
