Chronicle 18 - Brilliant help for Cambodian Women blinded by Landmines
The Japanese government and Japanese people responded to the Khmer Rouge’s senseless placing of millions of landmines in their own country of Cambodia.
Many people were blinded and continue to be blinded by yet-to-be-discovered land mines.
Rather than just giving money, the Japanese donors send legions of massage trainers to teach newly blind women a skill that could earn them a living wage.
My wife, Kevin, went to one of these massage parlors, and the women gave a great massage.
On an “eye clinical” note, inspect the sign and see if you would relish learning to read and write the Cambodian language.
